Our Heritage
M77 AG's roots trace back to the late 1800s when the Peterson family, our Swedish ancestors, first homesteaded in Sedgwick County, Colorado. What began as a simple family farm has evolved into a comprehensive agricultural operation spanning four generations.
The McConnell family heritage spans from Scotland to the Colorado plains. Great-grandfather Gaylord Lee McConnell (1897-1992) became a local hero in Haxtun, Colorado, when he served as part of a four-person posse that tracked and captured a bank robber following the March 3, 1915 robbery and murder at the Farmers State Bank. The posse tracked the robber by following dropped coins, shot his horse out from under him, and waited for him to surrender after running out of ammunition. This act of courage and dedication to community has defined our family for generations.
On the maternal side, great-grandfather HL "Doc" Hofmiester (Henry Leslie Hofmiester) was a prominent proprietor in Haxtun, Colorado. His contributions to the community and business acumen helped establish the foundation of entrepreneurship and service that continues today through M77 AG.
Our family lineage also includes the Barkey family, whose members served with distinction in both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Their legacy of service to the nation is commemorated in Barkeyville, Pennsylvania, a town named after this patriotic lineage. This spirit of dedication and service continues to inspire our commitment to our community and customers.
Today, Kyle and Brandi McConnell continue the family tradition, combining time-tested farming practices with modern technology to serve Northeast Colorado's agricultural community.
